2016 Racing Season Drawing to a Close
19 Oct 2016 – 2016 Racing Season Drawing to a Close
It always amazes me that when a deadline is set the sense of time approaching that deadline just seems to fly. It is already October and the 2016 racing season is winding down. Our own Brad Binder has deservedly been crowned Moto 3 world champion and Marques has shown up the top class. The bikes really produced a cracker of a season and the attendances at the races were really impressive.
Close racing with big loud and fast machinery will always draw a crowd. When we were doing our presentation at Zwartkops the cars really grabbed everyone’s attention every time they went out. Even the passing motorists were pulling up at the curb hoping for a glimpse of the cars circulating. The commentator seized the initiative by comparing Robert Wolk’s time in the yellow car with Gavin Cronje’s time in the black car. This had the crowd on to the pit wall enthusiastically cheering. When Wolk came in he received a standing ovation and this was a mere demonstration run. I hope you enjoy our video of the demonstration run at Zwartkops and continue to support us on this journey.
Us South Africans really love motor racing and are extremely knowledgeable about the sport in general. It’s time to create a new heritage and the AFRIX cars with their Ferrari power plants are just the thing SA needs.
Back to the deadline, we are all set to secure an FIA sanctioned calendar for the 2017/18 season and kick start this exciting project that aims to place Africa back on the map of international single-seater motorsport.
